Before she could speak, Matthew cut her off, his voice firm. “Leave Stella immediately, or I will take every measure necessary to ensure you do.”
Haley’s smile faltered momentarily. But remembering Matthew’s clear dislike for her, she recovered quickly.
Feigning confusion, she replied, “Mr. Clark, what’s going on? I’m Stella’s mother. It’s taken me ages to find her. All I want is to spend time with my daughter. Even if you are Stella’s husband, you can’t force me to leave.”
A chilling laugh escaped Matthew’s lips as he stepped closer to her.
